Why are they called "stupid little fat people" when they're not even remotely fat-looking?

Fair question, I suppose! To me they do look fat, but not like ‘obese’, but like a squishy teddy bear.

They’re called that because when I first started drawing them, they just started turning up on everything I was working on at the time - ‘real’ art, school work, everything. And I just got fed up with myself while talking with a friend and said “I’ve got to stop drawing these stupid, little, fat people on everything!” So the next time they got talked about it was as my “stupid, little, fat people.” As in, the people that I drew, that were stupid little and fat. (Keep in mind, these drawings used to be a mere couple of inches tall at most, so they were quite little.) Eventually they were no longer just people that happened to have those qualities, but instead those qualities were inherent to them. They were Stupid Little Fat People.

Generally these days I call them SLFPs, because it’s quicker to type, altho it’s hard to say.

I’ve always kind of wanted to do a step-by-step. I don’t really think my work is good enough that it’ll help anyone, but I just like the idea of documenting each part of the process.

This is a step-by-step of a watercolour I did on commission for a pair of friends who’re getting married this summer. It’s for their wedding-announcement website, and I plan to frame and give them the original - given I can’t afford a real wedding gift…

As it says on the image, I am no great watercolourist. I’m not even much of an artist. I’m just doing this for myself and my own joy.

They’re her characters from various BioWare games. From left to right - Faolan, her warden from Dragon Age Origins; Priscilla, her barbarian from Baldur’s Gate; Alexandria Sheppard, her Sheppard from the Mass Effect series; and Cera Hawke, her Hawke from Dragon Age 2.

They were all super fun to draw and I had a great time with them.

But I have some extra things - I got a gift because I spend so much money in the body shop, and it was cheaper to buy three things on the three for thirty than one item. I needed one item, I came out with six, or something ridiculous.

Anyway, if you’re not going to be getting anything for Christmas/whichever holiday this year, and you like Vanilla, Ginger or Cranberry* scented things, let me know. I won’t actually be able to send it in time for the 25th, but I will wrap it in nice wrap, and write a little note to you.

Or, I mean, you could ask for one for a friend.

Either way, tho’, you have to be comfortable giving me your address.
